So, I've been making big plans for our homeschool year. All these wonderful themes and such for us to do. And now, I'm pregnant. And Tired. And Miserable. So I'm not making big plans.
I will still educate my children, but I am going to let myself off the hook for doing a lot of extras. When I have the energy for extras, I'll do them, but we might get by with the basics.
Anyone else have to scale back their plans when life intrudes on the ideal?

Congratulations on the new addition! I have a feeling you scaling back will still be pretty impressive and thorough!
Oh my goodness, yes! The tiredness, the sickness, the feeling of "I just don't care and want this over-ness" certainly does hamper well made plans. I've had to set our homeschooling to "auto pilot" twice (with my last two pregnancies.) It's not fun, it's not what you wanted, but it's just what you have to do. Hang in there, you will make it! Hugs to you. :)
And all the effort will be worth it in the long run! I'm sooo excited for you!
Debbie
I will email you with my scaling back plans for soon! I am scared to death about number 4 being her in roughly 2 months--please, no sooner!! Yep, actually hoping to go late this time!! Very scared about how I will do it all!! So sick this time in the beginning too, and this is my first year of homeschool on top of it--and only been at it for 4 1/2 months:-). I feel you struggles, really!!
Just read all my typos, sorry:-)!! Should have previewed!
I think that happens a lot and I am so happy you are still going to homeschool them.
My sister ended up homeschooling my nephew last year because of a pregnancy. My nephew was in a private school, but she got so sick she couldn't actually drive him there anymore. She pulled him out and homeschooled him.
Congratulations! I've had life get in the way too with our overseas move. Hang in there, do what you can do, they will be fine. :) Extras are just that, "extra", not mandatory. There will be plenty of opportunities for extras later.
Congratulations! We will be trying for OUR third next month... We're hoping for a boy. How about you?
I can sooooooooo relate! I had such plans for 2009. I got pregnant and slept for 2 months. My motivation is better now at 6 months, but my focus and priorities have shifted. I think it just took me a while to change my thinking during this MAJOR life transition.
I feel your pain!
Yep! Life happened to us last year. And the year before. And come to think of it, the year before that as well. You'll be fine. And you're off the hook! :-)
Congratulations!!!!
Hi there!
I want to encourage you! Your children will blossom simply from being at home sweet home with their mommy!
Stick to the basics, Bible and the 3 R's. And throw in as many read alouds as you can.
Dont forget about the books on CD....those are great b.c all you have to do is turn the page! Dont forget also about educational videos from the library!
You have PLENTY of time (years!) to do all those little extras...your children are still so young!
Congratulations on your pregnancy!
Don't feel bad about not doing a lot of the extras. Homeschooling on its own is a big job, and kids love the simple non-school extras anyways!
I have an award for you on my blog. I adore you so!
Congratulations on your new baby, and good luck with your upcoming homeschooling efforts.
That totally happened to me last year. And I'm still tired and glad that I have the mindset of an unschooler... otherwise I'd be out of my mind by now.
