You know you're a homeschool mom when. . .

They're pond critters. We have tadpoles, water beetles, pond skaters, crawfish, and may be something else??

They had critter night for the preschoolers at church last Sunday night, and since the man doing the presentation is good friends with Joel, and knew we were wanting some tadpoles, he gave us all of these! The crawfish are disgusting looking, but I'm really excited to have something interesting to watch. Now, let's just hope we can keep them alive and see the tadpoles turn to frogs!

I have always wanted to watch the whole tadpole to frog process. My daughter watched it her 3rd grade year at school and talked about it daily!! I hope y'all have lots of fun with this and it turns out super for you!!!! Hope you are feeling super too!!

We have a backyard pond & buy tadpoles every spring. The tadpoles are scavengers-eating the algae in the pond and (along with the snails) they keep it clean and clear (chemical-free!).

Tadpoles eat A LOT of algae, so you'll have to ensure they are well fed to keep them alive. Crayfish are scavengers who eat carrion.

Maybe you already knew this--but I thought I'd share just in case you didn't! :)

How neat. I'd do without the beetles and crawfish, but the tadpoles would be fun!

How cool! We've been wanting tadpoles but haven't had any success finding them on our own. What a great experience this will be for your kids!

Oh...that's cool!! I know my kiddies would love to see a tadpole turn into a frog.
I ended up putting the vintage sewing machine up on that old black cabinet in my school/craft room. I think I like it there!!

Fun! Emily caught some tadpoles last summer, but we never kept any to watch them turn into frogs... what a neat idea!
