...the month of love!
Now, Joel and I aren't real sappy about commercial holidays. Valentine's Day will probably get noticed with a nice dinner at our local "fancy" restaraunt sometime in February (or we may wait until March and call it an anniversary dinner). But, honestly, we are pretty good about dating all year. Hallmark probably won't be getting any of our money.
Well, this year, Kristen at We Are THAT Family is hosting a Valentine's carnival. Here is a snippet from her blog:
The days leading up to Valentine's Day (Feb. 11-13), I will be having a little S.W.A.K. carnival. I want you to link up a post honoring your hubby anytime during those three days. It can be how you met, your first kiss, what you're doing to celebrate Valentine's Day, or about your own personal Kiss Challenge.

Hope to see you there to show our hubbies some love!

Princess Lamp
I did my first little ragamuffin garland as seen on the Nester's site. I had some princess fabric that I hot glued on the lamp, then glued the ragamuffin around the bottom. I still want to spruce up the brassy bottom, probably with some spray paint. This is (obviously) for my little girls' room. I have a few more things planned for their room, and will show you as I get them done.

Good Time to Pull Out the Freezer Paper
Remember when I did the post on using freezer paper? Well, over at Pink and Polka Dot today, she has a project that would be perfect to use your freezer paper on! While you're over there, look around, she had lots of great ideas!

Cleaning Closet Cleaned and Organized!
This is what I've been doing this morning.
Before:
Before:
I hung a shelf thing over the door to hold all the cleaning supplies, I hung a cheap paper towel holder in the closet so I don't have to lug the whole roll around, and I hung the green bucket that I use for rinse water and such.
See my new Cadillac Joel got me for Christmas?!
I even had room to move my off-season clothes in here, and after I go to the store again, I'll have toilet paper and paper towels on the top shelf!

Little Lamp Makeover
I got this lamp from my great aunt, and it was yellow with gold accents, and some ugly blue ribbon hot glued around it. It was stuck in a closet when I found it, but she was crafty, so it was probably cute for whatever she made it for. I painted it and added the stuff around the top. I think it turned out pretty cute (my model is pretty cute too!).
My John Deere dresser is still in the works. It has been too cold for me to get out there.
Here is our one picture from our trip to Savannah.
I took it myself. We looked bad because the weather was bad. We did, despite the cold rain, have a great time! We got to eat at Lady and Sons (Paula Deen's restaraunt), and we ate lots of good seafood and looked in lots of antique stores. We took a trolley tour and heard some of the stories of the ghosts that supposedly haunt Savannah.

In John Deere Green
Isn't she lovely? This is just a sneak peek at a before of the project I'm working on. Unfortunately it will be next week before I finish most likely since I have a busy weekend as well as the first part of next week I'll be out of town.
And, this is a picture of my new sign I bought from Susie over at Bienvenue (you can get to her blog on my sidebar).

The bowl on the table was hand turned by my 87 year old grandfather a couple years ago. Beautiful, isn't it?
See you next week after a romantic trip with my sweet hubby!

Happy New Year with no internet!
Our internet has not been playing nice this year, so I've been scarce. I will say, however, that my house is appreciating the extra attention!
I have been cleaning like a mad woman, so I can enjoy the busyness that is on the horizon. I start tonight with a WOM (Women On Missions) meeting. Our group has a couple of things coming up, so we are starting the year with a bang. Thursday, a friend and I are going to start gathering gifts for our ladies retreat that is coming up at the end of this month. Saturday my stepmom is taking me and my two stepsisters to see the Mama Mia broadway type show. Sunday we travel three hours to and three hours back to celebrate my niece's first birthday. Then, on Monday, my sweet husband and I are headed to Savannah for a two night get away!!
So, I am getting my house clean for my mother in law who is staying here with the girls, and making sure we have enough laundry to get us through next week.
I am going to try to take some pictures of some of my most-loved Christmas presents to show you later :)
