What I'm Reading

We are headed to the beach tomorrow, and I have my reading bag ready! Want to know what I'm planning to read? Of course you do! Right?

Anyways, I'm going to tell you either way :)
~Managers of Their Homes by Steve and Teri Maxwell ~ This is a great book about scheduling for homeschool families. I've borrowed a book from another lady, but I will be ordering the book when my homeschool budget recovers from convention! The book includes a scheduling kit, and I know this is a book that I will re-read every year.

~Just Around the Corner by Steve and Teri Maxwell ~ This one is a devotion book by the same people who wrote Managers of Their Homes. She has written a series of devotions for moms and he has written them for dads. I am being encouraged and challenged by each one. This collection is from about five years (1996-2001 I think). They are still writing these monthly, and you can subscribe to them for free on their website.

Teri Maxwell has also written several other books including Managers of Their Chores, Managers of Their Schools, and Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit. You can read all about them on their website at www.titus2.com (They will be in my town this fall, and I can't wait!!).

The other two books in my bag are To Train Up a Child by Michael Pearl and Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Trip. I am about half way through Shepherding a Child's Heart and it has been wonderful so far.

What's on your reading list for this summer?

Interesting reads. I'm so curious - How do you manage to actually read at the beach with the kids? I always bring books to the beach but I never open them!

We usually do some reading after bedtime, I will read during our quiet time (until I fall asleep!), and hopefully I'll find some time to read while the kids play at the house. This will be our vacation with Joel's whole family.

The next week, we are going off for vacation with just our little family, and are lucky enough for our babysitter and her friend to be going with us. I plan to have more leisure time on that trip :)

That sounds wonderful! Have a great time! I didn't realize it was a vacation; I thought you were just going to the beach for the day and that is why I wondered how you would get to read. Now it makes more sense. I would love to hear about your vacation and about the books when you return.

oh, yes, that would be optimistic for me to do all that in a day :) I will be sure to post more pictures that you will probably want to see, as well as give a book report when I return!

Hope you have a good week!

I'm glad you shared your reading list. These all sound so good. I'm off to check my library's website to see if I can check any of these out!

Now THAT sounds like a whole library of GREAT READING!
But how long is this beach day going to be, anwyay? lol

I always bring books, but I can't keep my eyes off the kids. Between their cuteness and sheer joy on the shore, I worry they'll go too far into the water, or someone else will notice their cuteness, and try to put them in their beach bag. lol
