Welcome to Life of a Dairy Queen!

***This was originally my post for the 5 minutes for mom blog party, and I am using it now for my ABC & 123 introduction post :) ***

If you already come to my blog regularly, welcome back! I am participating in The Ultimate Blog Party at 5 Minutes for Mom (you can get there from the button on the sidebar).

If you found me through the party, welcome! I hope you enjoy what you find! Be sure to leave a comment so I can come visit you!

I am married to a dairy farmer (hence, "Dairy Queen"), and we have two beautiful daughters. I am a stay-at-home, homeschool mom. Most days I love it! I enjoy crafts, decorating, and sometimes working in my yard. This blog is just like me, ADD! My sweet husband can watch tv, listen to something on the computer, and read another website at one time and keep up with it all! I start to twitch when there's too much going on! I do flutter back and forth between activities though, and so my blog is much that way!

I believe that hospitality is my true passion. I am not neccessarily gifted in the area, but God has taught and keeps teaching me about it! I am currently writing a series on the subject. I have posted several times on the topic, and plan to continue to do so on Tuesdays until I run out of things to say about it.

As for homeschooling, I have a kindergartener doing My Fathers World, and an almost three year old that I try to keep busy while we do school!

I enjoy crafting and am learning how to sew.

And, I am not so good at decorating, but I sure love to try!

Most importantly, I am a child of Christ. This, more than anything identifies me. It is truly why I am a wife, mother, and friend. I pray that my life and my blog may glorify Him.

Thanks for stopping by, come back soon!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. What fun...I would have loved to have grown up on a farm. My mother did and always shared stories with us about it.

Cute crafts that you have done! And I love your shower curtain!!

Hope to see you around some time!

Hello,
Just swinging by for the party. Nice Holstein background. We see plenty of those in our neck of the woods. Come party with me at Brimful Curiosities!

Wow, your school room has a huge black board and everything! You go girl!

:)

I often wish I was more gifted in hospitality. I'm a more "make yourself at home, and by that I mean get it yourself" type.

I admire anyone who has the gift of hospitality. You may still be learning, but I think you also have the gift!

It's so nice to find other ladies' blogs where we share similar goals.

As a side note, I called myself the Dairy Queen when I nursed our children!

Hi there! Thanks for visiting my blog! I'm amazed at how many home schooled children I've run across on blogs. How do you know where to start? Is there a book or guidelines for different ages? I'd love to know this. If you need any help decorating let me know! I worked at an Interior Design Showroom for 11 years and may be of some help! Check out my side bar on my blog "Mom All Day" for more info on that. And also, check out the other blog I am part of "Chubby Cheeks Graphix" where we make FREE siggys, blinkies and avatars for people! Here is the blog link and you can get to the FORUM to join from here. http://chubbycheeksgraphix.blogspot.com/

Thanks!

Nice to meet you. I'm a SAHM to a three year old daughter and one on the way due anytime. My husband and his three sibings were homeschooled, and we are seriously considering it with our children. I have two blogs but am participating with my book blog, Teen Lit Review. I'd love it if you stopped by.

Yes of course you may link to it. I'd be honored. I am looking forward to reading the posts you've already done and to reading your new ones!

I have not heard of the curriculum you're using, but I love the name "My Father's World." I used "Learning At Home" by Ann Ward (you can probably check it out from the library) from K-2nd grade.

Homeschooling is such a wonderful blessing. Originally I thought I'd homeschool through third grade but I homeschooled our oldest all the way thru to graduation, and am still homeschooling our youngest.

Blessings to you and I look forward to reading more of your blog!

Hi, there! Great blog layout -- bright, without being busy. Very nice.

Counting bears! Would you believe that we still have our counting bears? My youngest is 10, but I still love those little plastic critters -- and the little kiddos who come over to visit like them a lot, too. Hours of fun for the whole family! ;^)

Hope you have a great weekend!

Stop by my party if you have a chance!

Hi, there. Stopping over while blog hopping. I'm enjoying the UBP party. It's in the wee hours of the morning but I have a migraine so can't sleep. It's nice to meet you and your blog. My blog list keeps growing. Blogs are my favorite "me" time. I have a toddler learing blog at www.superfunmama.blogspot.com. So nice to meet you!

i'm obsessed with other blogs that feature toddler fun so I'll be back!

Thanks for your comments on my site. You do have a knack for decorating. Your photo with the couch on an angle (many people are afraid to try that!) is great. The pillows and window covering coordinate with colors and you have a rug and a basket that adds texture. Also the pot with twigs in the corner adds in a natural element. Great job!!

Hadley,
Thanks for linking to the picnic. It was fun to review your UBP post. I would love to have the gift of hospitality! My mom always did and I wish I was better about it. Perhaps we should move the picnic to your place:)

Katie said...

You know I could've sworn I'd left a comment on this back for 5MFM but I don't see it...hmm...anyhoo, thanks for joining in on the picnic. I meant to ask you when I was here before about the picture of the first day of kindergarten. What are the numbers along the bottom of the chalkboard? A project? Art? Just curious!

Lisa said...

I'm stopping by from the Picnic Party. Nice to "meet" you. I love that your little girl is apparently in her jammies in the first day of school picture. :)

DairyQueen said...

Katie ~ the numbers in the picture are a creation project that we did. Each number had a picture or symbol for each day of creation. Not one of our most exciting projects to date :)
